THE ASSISTANT MANAGER POSITION

As an Assistant Manager you will:

bulletProvide prompt and courteous customer service.
bulletLearn how to operate and apply all operating policies and procedures to ensure your store runs smoothly, with a minimum expense, maximum productivity, accurate cash, and inventory control.
bulletUse verbal and written communication skills.
bulletPerform basic administrative duties, including filing, forms, cash accounting, etc.
bulletStock store merchandise weighing up to 50 lbs, from receiving to shelving.
bulletOperate and use cleaning equipment to keep store neat and sanitary.
bulletSupervise store employees, guiding them and ensuring they perform their duties.
bulletOperate all mechanical equipment, including a cardboard baler and electric pallet jack.

Assistant Managers are involved in a hands-on management training program grooming you to be a successful retail grocery manager. During the initial 4 week training program you will learn pricing, inventory control, ordering, cashier register, daily cash reports, store maintenance and all policies and operating procedures.

Physical labor is a large part of the Assistant Manager's job.  You work an average 40 hour week and wear many different hats. Your own hard work will help determine whether you may one day become eligible to be promoted to Store Manager. That will come when you have demonstrated that you have the knowledge and experience to assume that role. There is no set time period for promotion to Manager.  It will depend upon many factors, including your own progress and abilities. You are not guaranteed to be promoted.  It will have to be earned.
